Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his future after another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the team's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period such as this with performances so bad.”

He stated, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
