'People are afraid' - why 'juggernaut' Arsenal are the team to beat.

There's little doubt why Arsenal are now numerous fans' favorites to claim the Premier League this season.

Examine their results against Fulham and Crystal Palace compared to those equivalent matches last season.

The Gunners have beaten all of them during this campaign, but dropped 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race last season.

Defensive Dominance

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a primary factor why they are appearing strong to at last realize their title goal.

They rank top for unbreached games (6), goals allowed (3), attempts against (72), shots on target faced (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the best in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Expertise

Their threat from set-pieces is widely recognized, but opposition teams still don't know how to contain the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just afraid of them and it is great to see."

Title Credentials

What is particularly notable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their historic competitors face difficulties. This marks the first time at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on boss Mikel Arteta at the start, having allocated around £250m on eight summer signings in quest of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far proven successful in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and boasting the tightest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Shutouts in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and pundits have described Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now operating with belief and purpose.
