The Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Houston Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.
Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their initial World Series following 1993 by beating the Mariners in the final game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Down by two runs, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh inning, guiding the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 win in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, Toronto, our country," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an amazing experience."
Springer has now slugged 23 total October home runs, placing him third all-time trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).
"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I'd prefer in that spot except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
Seattle's team, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team that has never reached in a championship series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but commended their work throughout the year.
"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he added.
Toronto won the title on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
